The last member of Congress to be expelled was Rep. James Traficant, my representative at the time, in 2002. A senator has not been expelled since the 17th Amendment went into effect.

"Seat and expel" gives them a chance for a do-over election, though, which is why they favor it over a Strange write-in attempt (or, gasp, endorsing Jones). Wait till Moore gets expelled and then wins again.

This is the GOP’s best-case scenario. It would be much much better though if @GDouglasJones just wins

So do they campaign for him in the meantime as a pedophile place-holder for Republican governor's replacement?

Well, the governor is a Republican, so they’ll still keep their margin. Through another special election.

Does he get a Senate pension if they seat & expel?
