A Fox News reporter selectively quotes from a wide-ranging set of answers from Trump and then condescendingly lectures about how saddened he is that people don’t care about accuracy.https://twitter.com/johnrobertsfox/status/929472219092107264 …
Trump: “[T]hat whole thing was set up by the Democrats.”
Trump: “You know, there are those that say, if he did do it, he wouldn't have gotten caught, all right? Which is a very interesting statement.”
Trump: “[T]his is really an artificial barrier that's put in front of us for solving problems with Russia.”
“Do you believe him?” Trump says much more than that Putin is “very strong” that “he didn’t do it.” He then goes into *inside job* DNC conspiracy theory about Podesta, and the server — concluding that “if you look at all of this stuff, and you say, what's going on here?”
He’s not done, he then also goes after then US intelligence agencies. Trump: “And then you hear it's 17 agencies. Well, it's three. And one is Brennan and one is whatever. I mean, give me a break. They're political hacks.”
Trump: “So you look at it — I mean, you have Brennan, you have Clapper, and you have Comey. Comey is proven now to be a liar and he's proven to be a leaker.”
Trump’s conclusion: “So you look at that, and you have President Putin very strongly, vehemently says he had nothing to do with that.”
tl;dr: Trump: 1. Says people are saying Putin should have been caught if he did it. 2. Suggests the hack could have been an inside DNC job. 3. Dismisses US intelligence assessments. 4. Explicitly says he looks at all that in light of Putin’s denials and moves on.
[I'd missed this earlier in the thread. Trump brought it up again later.] Trump: "This artificial Democratic hit job gets in the way and that’s a shame. Because people will die because of it. And it’s a pure hit job."pic.twitter.com/ZT9iEkzvFv
Ah, McCain did respond to Trump’s extended Air Force One gaggle defense of Putin:https://twitter.com/senjohnmccain/status/929476511480020992 …
After his staff was able to follow up with him, Trump walked back his defense in part, but who knows what this actually means:https://twitter.com/buzzfeednews/status/929556967755939840 …
And even that is such a half-walkback.
This is John Roberts from his days in Canada. He might be making this face reading this thread.pic.twitter.com/5Zs90aXTXP
I feel like he’d rather have all spinning wheels on the Russia issue than talking about how the 11 former TPP signatories just signed a collective trade deal WITHOUT the US!
The man is incapable of nuance.
he's just a VJ from Canada who cut off his mullet.
