Will I get ~mad~ at Hoult, Spacey, Paulson, & Garber if I see REBEL IN THE RYE? Like, I get that it's not great, but I still want to see it.

Maybe I should just rewatch A SINGLE MAN instead.

Amusingly, the audience score is exactly the same for both (but critics say REBEL IN THE RYE is Not Good).pic.twitter.com/ESQmmPfSWy

OK, I will let you know how OK/bad REBEL IN THE RYE is.

Honestly would watch Nicholas Hoult leaning back in a chair in that white shirt at a desk with a typewriter for 90 minutes.

This is the shirt in question, which should be a credited role in the film.pic.twitter.com/l96UstsVgv

The film is a clichéd mess, as the reviews say. And there were entire scenes that were totally cringeworthy. AND YET, it wasn't all bad.

The script needed a rewrite, taking it one (or three) levels down from "hit you in the face with the point."

Replying to @chrisgeidner
As I noted back at Sundance, the performances are genuinely solid. But Salinger deserves better than this:https://www.villagevoice.com/2017/01/25/sundance-doesnt-j-d-salinger-demand-a-more-daring-biopic-than-rebel-in-the-rye/ …
