Will I get ~mad~ at Hoult, Spacey, Paulson, & Garber if I see REBEL IN THE RYE? Like, I get that it's not great, but I still want to see it.

But the early Spacey-Hoult stuff was good, I really enjoyed the Paulson-Hoult relationship, and Hoult had a few really great moments.

It came down to an outright-bad-at-times script. Which is too bad. (Among its lesser crimes, Victor Garber was criminally underutilized.)
