Will I get ~mad~ at Hoult, Spacey, Paulson, & Garber if I see REBEL IN THE RYE? Like, I get that it's not great, but I still want to see it.

This is the shirt in question, which should be a credited role in the film.pic.twitter.com/l96UstsVgv

The film is a clichéd mess, as the reviews say. And there were entire scenes that were totally cringeworthy. AND YET, it wasn't all bad.

The script needed a rewrite, taking it one (or three) levels down from "hit you in the face with the point."

But the early Spacey-Hoult stuff was good, I really enjoyed the Paulson-Hoult relationship, and Hoult had a few really great moments.

It came down to an outright-bad-at-times script. Which is too bad. (Among its lesser crimes, Victor Garber was criminally underutilized.)

The movie did get me to go to a bookstore immediately after to see if they had this. (
