That's a lot of a thread, but it describes many, many interviews with a hostile witness, in media or law. The diff here is it's POTUS.

Pushing back assumes threshold over which the interviewer can push. With 45 there is no threshold, no moment of shame, no fear, no awareness
-
Correct. Trump is delusional.
-
...and of course no guilt.
-
Psychopaths do not experience guilt.

Agreed. It would make the interview way too choppy.
@maggieNYT does push back when needed at the right level (IMHO).Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I would suggest that any interview of DJT starts off as pointless. All this does is give cover to the GOP to enact highly unpopular law.
-
I think the press needs to start covering him as they would, say, a foreign conflict, or perhaps a crime scene.

. One can hardly "push back" at anything T says anyway, for him the "truth" of anything he said even moments before is infinitely elastic

If you confront someone's delusions head on, they only become more delusional. Trump is what he is. What you see is what you get.
-
Which is why he should not be in the Oval Office.
