This is a significant win for the Hawaii legal team, led by Hawaii AG Doug Chin & @neal_katyal, and loss for DOJ:https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/supreme-court-wont-stop-order-that-exempts-grandparents?utm_term=.nhGQ9BgjPv#.juq9EP2xl3 …
It tells us Kennedy &/or CJ thought DOJ’s interpretation of "bona fide" re: family was too narrow. Enough so they weren't OK w a stay even.
#SCOTUS also announces it's not hurrying arguments in #travelban cases. They will be the second week of the court's term: Tuesday, Oct. 10.pic.twitter.com/NiB3aU6Qyd
It will be the 104th day since the travel and refugee bans went into effect when the justices are scheduled to hear the case.
That means the travel ban — 90 days — should have ended and the refugee ban — 120 days — will be set to be done in less than 2.5 weeks.
