The diversity of the SCOTUS press corps is very bad. There are several women, a few gay guys, and, usually, one woman of color.

Well, that's a multi-faceted question. It's a matter of resources. You have to commit to doing lots of court coverage to get a hard pass.

You can cover cases that you/your publication cares about without a hard pass. I never would have thought to get one while at
@metroweekly. -
And, yes, publications need to do better. Legal reporting is not very diverse at all. I'm an outlier, coming from LGBT reporting!
