Y'all can't possibly be comparing what McConnell just did to what Reid did.
A rule interpretation that allowed a majority vote for all nominations except SCOTUS to one expanding it to include SCOTUS?
They quite obviously are inherently comparable. There might be fights over whether it was appropriate or justified, but they are comparable.
My point is, @SenateGOP has wanted the nuclear option since Gorsuch was nominated. Democrats, including Reid, had to be dragged there.
I get the limitations of a tweet, but we both know it's about much more than different maj. leaders & Presidents.
I think there'd have been a nuclear option for a President Clinton SCOTUS nominee today by Majority Leader Schumer, if that all happened.
I think Lindsey Graham was right last year when he said that the next time presidency and Senate were same party, there'd be a SCOTUS nuke.
Neither Graham nor I expected it to be Trump and Republicans. But, here we are.
