(This chosen quote is not the point, to be clear. It's a profile of several individual plaintiffs in travel ban cases.)

I'd been thinking about THIS, a story on the profiles of people suing Trump over the travel bans: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/29/us/trump-travel-ban.html?smprod=nytcore-iphone&smid=nytcore-iphone-share …pic.twitter.com/EvWsErUVHV

If every time you got on a plane you had a 1:1000 chance for the plane to crash would you still get on the plane?

It's more like 1:10000000000 chance and those odds are better than taking your car, eating peanuts, swimming in a pool, crossing the street

Of 50,000 refugees 5 will move to terror event (1:1000). Would mean 87 planes crashing per day. Need better vetting. Odds might be higher

Fourth: it's simply a flat lie. Only two refugees to US have killed people there, ever. (They were Cuban, and two people died.)

From outside it's hard to understand how a State level decision can stop a US level policy if other States are pro. A constitutional thing?

These are not state level decisions, they are federal.

Thx. But a federal decision can be made by a single state?

It's not a single state, it's a federal judge ruling on the case.

Ok got it. Get confused when the press reports that the block came from e.g. Hawaii but they're simply going via Fed Judges. Sorry to be dim

The 'lowly judge' part is very misleading-as this is NOT a lowly judge...that's part of the misconception
