Anywayyyyyy ... so, that's Hawaii. WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING IN TRAVEL EO LITIGATION?
At the 4th Circuit, we're waiting on the plaintiffs' filing in IRAP on whether they support initial en banc (full court) consideration.
DOJ, on Wednesday, said they're fine w en banc if it doesn't slow things down. See:https://twitter.com/chrisgeidner/status/847192941919653889 …
While those are the 2 cases making news now, there's another case that I had noted got some additional counsel and a big amended complaint.
WELL, something VERY interesting is happening in that case: Arab American Civil Rights League v. Trump.
The case, out of Michigan, was the one where they got a permanent injunction against lawful perm residents being covered by the first EO.
WELL, now, with a big thick amended complaint, and a big legal team ... they've, under the radar, filed for expedited discovery.pic.twitter.com/WufuFs4pVp
Here's that: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/3532679-AACRL-v-Trump-Pls-Expedited-Discovery-Request.html … / Here are the documents they're seeking (all pre-presidential, incidentally): https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/3532678-AACRL-v-Trump-Doc-Request.html …pic.twitter.com/PC002we44H
And here are the interrogatories (questions):https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/3532677-AACRL-v-Trump-Interrogatories.html …
On Friday, March 24, DOJ (unsurprisingly) opposed the request: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/3532680-AACRL-v-Trump-DOJ-Opp-Discovery.html …pic.twitter.com/lp4rCl4Iz1
And Monday, plaintiffs filed their reply — noting the request was aimed at avoiding executive privilege issues: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/3532681-AACRL-v-Trump-Pls-Discovery-Reply.html …pic.twitter.com/KWs4Flragh
So, there's that! For now, though, tonight's big news is the preliminary injunction in Hawaii: https://www.buzzfeed.com/mbvd/hawaii-judge-travel-ban-order?utm_term=.hr3Oqrn04v#.up4r32z4XA … </fin>
.@chrisgeidner @DeannaHoak serious question for you @realDonaldTrump when does the winning start? Only thing you're good at is losing
nobody expected anything different. Not cause he is on legal footing, he isnt. He is an Obama hack
