Hard to read (I)(a) or (b) in this order as NOT applying nationwide:https://twitter.com/joshua_eaton/status/825600563622604800 …

Anyone think otherwise?

Neat and pretty version of the MA case order: https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3437041/MA-TRO.pdf …

3:33a Sunday: Final update, for now, on our
@BuzzFeedNews report on the rulings on Trump's refugee/visa/etc EO: https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/federal-judge-orders-halt-to-deportations-under-trump-order?utm_term=.nnmvLXqQ7j#.nfwb91GAmY …pic.twitter.com/JYogCIY1MU

Geidner back: A little update to clarify where the ~scope~ questions stand, including DHS's statement: https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/federal-judge-orders-halt-to-deportations-under-trump-order?utm_term=.ipK20k4BpD#.ehmnzVPLqE …pic.twitter.com/VE0XYeMRkB

Night, all, and let us be good to one another — and ourselves.

Court story now updated with California return ruling: https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/federal-judge-orders-halt-to-deportations-under-trump-order?utm_term=.clqZKnzk4y#.faKWKPlLMg …pic.twitter.com/kt5n1em0pd

A lawyer is seeking confirmation that the NY order applies to her client, who appears to be a journalist who lives in NY from Iran.pic.twitter.com/cVHxrCcEPQ

Judge Donnelly wants an update on the status of the client's arrival from her lawyer by 11a Monday.

Also: Reminder that an amended complaint is due on Monday (I guess, later today) in the Massachusetts case.

Note: All the confusion regarding Dulles is NOT helped by fact that E.D. Va. still does not register on PACER the case as having been filed.

Here's the TRO, vs. case search and civil case filings in PACER right now.pic.twitter.com/8QQAwl3ERi

The Washington case — involving two John Does — was voluntarily dismissed on Sunday.pic.twitter.com/h6QcQP1i6o

And, in California, Judge Gee filed an "amended and corrected" TRO in the return case. https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3438307/CC-CA-Vayeghan-Order-Re-TRO-AMENDED.pdf …pic.twitter.com/3XsVOOnhvQ

She got rid of some of the case cites originally provided here (the one with fewer cases cited is the corrected TRO):pic.twitter.com/WKpnxlh0zt

But, more importantly, she expanded who has to follow the TRO to make clear it's everyone (the longer one is the corrected TRO):pic.twitter.com/6vbXO6yOdf

if nationwide -- this goes further than previous order yeah?
-
—Yes, but surprised if a judge would impose nationwide ban on dentention under the EO. No irep harm on detention
-
There could be irreparable harm if detained too long. Job loss, or the woman trying to visit dying mother...
-
—Maybe. But those are all things a jury can award monetary compensation/damages for. Being deported can't be undone or valued.
-
True, but what monetary value do you place on your mother dying alone while you're being detained?
-
—Crass to say it, but depending on the jury, couple hundred thousand. Happens all the time in wrongful death cases, etc.
-
I guess you have a point. I was somewhat stunned to read cases with low awards for death, but big payouts for slips/trips.
