When I started out I was obsessed w/clipping everything I wrote out & putting it into a binder.

id say as close as you can get to the source... Txt files, maybe markdown, plenty of backups, the better.

last: I'd stay away from any long-term corporate backup. Companies can't even long-term themselves. Redundancy is your friend.
