While we're talking about theater this weekend ...

He is such an incredible singer, actor, performer, presence. I also gained appreciation for Christian Borle, who I think is just great here.
-
It was a delight to see Tracie Thoms & Betsy Wolfe as the lesbian neighbors. And Brandon Uranowitz was wonderful, as was Anthony Rosenthal.
-
But, on Nov. 9, it was something else to see
@StephanieJBlock as Trina. From the opening words of "Trina's Song," the audience changed. -
She sings: "I'm tired of all the happy men who rule the world. ... They smile, but not for me. I'd like the chance to hide in their world."
-
The oxygen went out of the room.
-
It's a short song, leading into the "March of the Falsettos," but there was a moment when Block herself appeared that she needed a second.
-
"And I'll roar, like I'm wired. I'll explore what I'm feeling, Accept what I'm feeling is tired. I'm tired."
-
It was a song that premiered in a show off-Broadway more than 35 years ago, yet, that night, it was imbued with completely new meaning.
-
That is what great theater is about.

“young performers” I think he's literally older than you...
-
I'm a year older. ;-) He's still eligible for "under 40" lists! (As am I!)
-
you do not look 39
-
(Andrew doesn't look 38!)
-
sure, but he’s a professional actor. As a journalist it’s expected the stress would age you quickly…
-
Don't worry. It is. Sigh.
