BREAKING: Fed ct DENIES relief — for now — in DNC v. RNC case, will not extend "ballot security" consent decree (beyond 2017) at this time.pic.twitter.com/wOjLJ1ELBg

Judge will allow parties to "seek additional discovery after Election Day." Order: https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3214604/DNCvRNC-Order-Denying-Relief.pdf … / I'm uploading the opinion now.
-
Let's try that again: HERE is the opinion in DNC v. RNC: https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3214605/DNCvRNC-Opinion.pdf … / Judge basically says, "Come back after Election Day."
-
tl;dr: The judge in DNC v. RNC found there wasn't enough evidence for contempt or to extend the consent decree NOW, but left things open ...
-
... for additional discovery after Election Day, which could then show a violation of the consent decree.
-
Regardless of all that, the longstanding consent decree — barring the RNC from "ballot security" measures — itself remains in effect.

@GottaLaff you wonder if this response is already written, the GOP wants to run out clock -
Good point. Your thoughts
@chrisgeidner? -
Huh? I don't understand.
-
, do you want to elaborate?
-
the Dems want the judge to rule quickly the GOP doesn't. I can't imagine that the Dems will wait until 11:50p to+
-
I think that's wrong. The Dems have a TRO right now, and it's very broad. A ruling only is going to narrow or end it.

11:50 seems like a strange time. Any thoughts?
-
Maybe they were not sure if "midnight" would cause confusion. 11:50p does not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
I appreciate your analysis by the way. I don't always agree with you, but I appreciate your commentary and thought.
