Increasingly common in coastal and a even some Midwestern metros. The "screw you, I've got mine" mentality is rampant.
Well, that's been NIMBY since at least the '90s when I was first reading about it. But, the particulars here of the ~action~
discussed to oppose it seem to me to be more of this era than the way NIMBY-ism was discussed then.
That's true. I've heard of angry protests like this in SF, not so much in NYC. This is the first time I've seen it televised.
Threats of litigation and protest are common, but civil disobedience is a new one.
