OF COURSE arguing against same-sex marriage isn't the same thing as supporting murder. No one is saying that.
After Bondi's comments over the weekend, Cooper asked, "Do you think you're a champion of the gay community?"
He pushed back by pointing to her defense of the state's marriage ban. That's it, he didn't equate that fight with murder. Not at all.
In Florida's merits brief at the 11th Circuit, filed a few days earlier, Bondi cited all the way back to '70s cases:pic.twitter.com/zK0NsF33PD
1974's Singer v. Hara: "[T]here is no 'wife' and therefore there can be no marriage."pic.twitter.com/CSYFgrX2gl
That case was cited to by Pam Bondi in 2014.
People's views and attitudes can and do change, but it is important for journalists to question the motives for politicians' doing so.
Obama and Clinton have been questioned repeatedly and extensively over their changed views, as have other Dems. No reason Bondi is exempt.
Both Clintons, in fact!
FYI, from the motion to dismiss, here is Bondi's "harm" argument that Cooper referenced: https://www.aclu.org/sites/default/files/assets/050_state_officials_mot_to_dismiss_and_memo_in_opp_to_pi_mots_-_2014-05-12.pdf …pic.twitter.com/Rc1G6gskaX
people actually more upset about that than their nominee calling for religious discrimination and general hysteria, baffling!
she was so cringeworthy to watch
No genius, it's called doing actual OBJECTIVE journalism. You work for @BuzzFeed so I realize that is a foreign concept to you
he stopped her and said no this is not a human being issue its a gay and lesbian issue.
only rainbow gays thought marriage equality would make things better. The rest of us queers know the truth.
