I think there is no rationale for Garland, under Obama's judicial or political calculus or past practice—unless he got agreement from GOP.
-
In other words, unless McConnell or Grassley agreed to move Garland, I don't see a rationale for his nomination right now by this POTUS.
-
(And we know that almost certainly did not happen!)
-
Like it or not, and many liberals would go w "not" for good reason, Kelly would be a great nominee—but maybe not for an election year fight.
-
Which leaves us with Srinivasan, the "DC" pick, as I would call him, & Watford, the "liberals" pick, if we had to place them.

This could be Obama's last chance for an out-of-the-ballpark speech about America. I see Watford or Srinivasan being at his side for that.

Those are my thoughts. We will see shortly.

So: Garland.

Here's my report on the coming Garland nomination:http://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/merrick-garland-to-supreme-court#.redKWxK34 …

A possibility not included in my earlier thoughts: If Srinivasan and Watford said no to a nomination fight now. They're both under 50.
