It is correct that we are seeing ~resolutions~ that liberals support, but #SCOTUS in many ways is delaying, putting off the big decisions.

Future of
#SCOTUS is still exceptionally uncertain, making it "bigger than ever," as I wrote after Scalia's death:http://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/the-fight-over-scalias-replacement-will-make-the-supreme-cou#.mhy5nqwJE2 … -
And, while it continues to function,
#SCOTUS, as a result, is waiting: http://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/gridlock-hits-the-supreme-court#.up4r32z4XA … ... Again this week, no new cert grants. -
Decision this week to GVR (grant, vacate, remand) the juvenile life w/o parole cases was decision not to decide, to let issues percolate.
-
(That's not necessarily any different than it would have been with Scalia, to be clear.)
-
And, w/ opinions, though they're normally not blockbusters at this point in the term, this week we got only one unanimous, 6-page opinion.
-
And, while some are characterizing Thomas and Alito as teaming up now that Scalia's gone, I'd be very cautious about that idea at this pt.
-
I think those pairings, thus far, aren't at all surprising. If anything—&, again, it's too early to tell—I'd be keeping my eye on the Chief.
-
Is this more a pairing up of Alito and Thomas or more of a pairing up of the Chief and Kennedy? We will have to wait & see!
