MHP "will begin telling her stories, sharing her views & putting the personal, the academic & the political on display for all to see."

That's what I wrote back in 2012. It's interesting to see that, now, it's MHP's desire to continue doing so that is front & center here.

.
@MHarrisPerry's show is 1 of the first (& only) to address trans issues in a smart, direct way — including by actually having trans guests. -
I was amazed weekly at the diversity of her guests, all the more so when compared to the overwhelming cis straight white maleness elsewhere.

Back in 2012, I asked
@MHarrisPerry: "How does a liberal, black, female professor get a TV show in America?"pic.twitter.com/LL0qps7nTH

Fast-forward to 2016, here is her letter's conclusion: https://medium.com/@JamilSmith/melissa-harris-perry-s-email-to-her-nerdland-staff-11292bdc27cb#.n7v5kv904 …pic.twitter.com/IcPT48cM6Z

In sum,
@MHarrisPerry brings something to TV that I don't think anyone has done before — at least not in such a consistently diverse way. -
This is, of c, said in the context of opinionated coverage like hers (& like others), which I think plays an important role (on both sides).
