The Martian was so good. Incredibly intense, yet not overdone. How do people rank it with Gravity and Interstellar?
@kevinpokeeffe @shayes287 Gravity was so overdone, I couldn't really care about it when I left.

@kevinpokeeffe@shayes287 The Martian, I felt, told its story -- which was, ultimately, fairly predictable -- but told it very well. -
@chrisgeidner@shayes287 You're talking to someone who liked neither Gravity nor Interstellar. I do like what The Martian does on the whole. -
@chrisgeidner@shayes287 But I enjoyed it largely because it *isn't* intense. It's a nice, simple story told nicely and simply. -
@chrisgeidner@shayes287 Trying to sell it as more than "nice" feels like a reach. But that's me! (Titanic is a far better film, though.) -
@kevinpokeeffe@shayes287 Oh, I definitely agree there!

@chrisgeidner@kevinpokeeffe Gravity was amazing, I struggled to stand up when it ended -
@shayes287@kevinpokeeffe Was it the Ghost of Clooney Past that roped you in? -
@chrisgeidner@kevinpokeeffe no it was how it was shot, amazing -
@shayes287@kevinpokeeffe Yes, I know. Ghost of Clooney past ruined the movie for me. And the rest of it was just visuals, which are nice. -
@shayes287@kevinpokeeffe But, that's why they made all three -- so different people could like each one!
