The Martian was so good. Incredibly intense, yet not overdone. How do people rank it with Gravity and Interstellar?

@chrisgeidner@shayes287 Titanic actually creates suspense through scope whereas nothing in The Martian even suggests he's in trouble. -
@chrisgeidner@shayes287 (I liked The Martian fine but I think it's far more forgettable than most do.) -
@kevinpokeeffe@shayes287 There were parts of Interstellar that were phenomenal, but some of it was so clunky it turned me off. -
@kevinpokeeffe@shayes287 Gravity was so overdone, I couldn't really care about it when I left. -
@kevinpokeeffe@shayes287 The Martian, I felt, told its story -- which was, ultimately, fairly predictable -- but told it very well. -
@chrisgeidner@shayes287 You're talking to someone who liked neither Gravity nor Interstellar. I do like what The Martian does on the whole. -
@chrisgeidner@shayes287 But I enjoyed it largely because it *isn't* intense. It's a nice, simple story told nicely and simply. -
@chrisgeidner@shayes287 Trying to sell it as more than "nice" feels like a reach. But that's me! (Titanic is a far better film, though.) - 1 more reply
