On that day, when Obergefell was handed down, the court allowed a "demonstrations applauding the Court's actions."
So, the #SCOTUS plaza policy is not enforced — at least not at all times — in a viewpoint-neutral way.
@chrisgeidner Did the Court allow the assembly because it was favorable, or because stopping it would be nearly impossible? I think latter.
@smmarotta Honestly, I thought it was less of a shitshow outside the court this year than in 2013 for Windsor/Perry.
@smmarotta And they didn't allow it then.
@smmarotta When I walked out of the court and saw all the people on the plaza, it actually was the most surprising part of the entire day.
@chrisgeidner @smmarotta same. recall, in my shock, telling bystanders to take in a scene they're not likely to witness again
@chrisgeidner forgive me, but does this make not possible rallies like the #LoveWins or #ACA rallies? Or just not on the plaza up the stairs
@KTravisBallie This is about the plaza, not the sidewalk.
Also - it's not a ban if there are exceptions. + hard to read SCOTUS steps and plaza not trad public forum w a straight face. @chrisgeidner
