.@derekkitchen — lead plaintiff in Utah marriage case — is way up in early returns in his primary race for a Salt Lake City Council seat.
Here are the current returns, which are hard to read, but Kitchen has 36% of the vote in a 5-way race.pic.twitter.com/dBmBm6BTmO

@chrisgeidner Here's the latest primary results for#SLC: http://fox13now.com/2015/08/11/polls-closed-for-primary-elections/ … -
@BenWinslow Right. Those are no different than what I posted. How do you ~know~ Derek advances? -
@chrisgeidner Because he has a double-digit lead over his nearest opponents and top 2 go on to general. -
@BenWinslow So, you are guessing he advances, same as I was. -
@chrisgeidner Pretty safe guess. -
@BenWinslow Right. But his lead is 600 votes and there are, what, 5,000 votes not counted, by the way I read that chart. -
@chrisgeidner Not exactly. SLC was entirely vote-by-mail, so the precinct numbers aren't accurate. -
@BenWinslow Oh! I've been reading the 37.2% to mean 37.2% of the vote is counted. - 1 more reply
