Well, Alabama had been my pick for the holdout state. Here it is: AL Sup Ct orders halt to same-sex marriages -http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2015/06/roy_moore_gay_marriage.html …
-
-
AL Sup Ct did not ~order~ a stop to anything. It ordered briefing on the existing order not to issue licenses.pic.twitter.com/N0URGeEAry
-
AL Sup Ct also notes that the parties to the Obergefell and related cases at SCOTUS have 25 days to seek a rehearing.
-
And while a later order ~could~ attempt to stop probate judges from issuing licenses until then, AL Sup Ct only asked for a briefing today.
-
You could argue AL Sup Ct was, by implication, noting that its prior order stopping same-sex marriage licenses remains in effect. But ...
-
... I think it is notable that the AL Sup Ct did NOT direct probate judges to stop granting such licenses if they have begun doing so.
