Just seems to be interesting that for all the celebration, LGBT groups really seemed to fall down today when it came to dealing with this.
This was the most predictable pushback. Some probate judges were saying on Friday they wouldn't be issuing marriage licenses.
Yet, today, it was still the two lawyers who handled the Searcy case on their own who filed the odd Mobile contempt motion today.
Seems like all of the high-priced lawyers eager to get their case (& name) at the Supreme Court aren't engaged at the ground level. Shock.
Oh, and this was HRC's graphic this morning after SCOTUS denied Alabama's stay request.pic.twitter.com/ijzVxtbmkD
@chrisgeidner I'm shocked -- shocked -- that the HRC is out of touch with the reality of the ground.
@nuccbko Well, I don't think it's just HRC. I'm pretty shocked that no LGBT group or lawyer has handled this well today.
@chrisgeidner Not a 1to1 comparison, but similar to Kansas, where nat'l groups have left state groups to fend for themselves.
@chrisgeidner lol the day that any movement actually comes together cohesively is the day hell freezes over
@chrisgeidner Because that would be smart.
@chrisgeidner And have template motions to intervene ready to go.
@chrisgeidner to do what, exactly?
@chrisgeidner they were all in Denver.
@chrisgeidner Because "all the LGBT groups" are a fractious bunch.
