As I've mentioned before, drinking had stopped working for me -- it just doesn't -- and I decided that something had to change.

None of this is to say I'm opposed to others drinking. I still have amazing nights, when I'm feeling it, out w friends who are drinking.
-
But, for some people, it doesn't work. & I am most certainly one of those people. So, I'm sober -- & I think I'm much better this way.
-
In any event, it's 2:30, so, bar closing time back in Columbus, where I did much of my damage, and DC, where I quit, so ... here we are.
-
Twitter has known me back when I was still drinking, tho v few of you were following me back then. But, among them were some sober people.
-
And they (you) were so great to me, and for that I am grateful.
-
Really, tho, all of Twitter has been a part of my getting sober bc you've been here when I just needed to chat. You're always here. Thanks.
-
And yes, folks in my work life, at Metro Weekly & BuzzFeed, totally know I'm sober & are among my closest friends bc of how great they are.
-
With that, I'm going to wrap this up, say again how grateful I am that I am sober today, and close w/: Night, all, & be good to one another.
-
Last night, I tweeted about the fact that I'm sober today & have been for 4.5 years. Scroll to the beginning of this thread to read more.
