.@GLAAD says @AP should give "solution that carries more weight" re: style for same-sex married couples - http://bit.ly/11Vzxas
@pgofhsm Same-sex married couples should be treated the same as opp-sex married couples by a news org. It's not tough, & I think u r wrong.

@chrisgeidner tell me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge no one has husband-husband & wife-wife forms. What is wrong w/ everyone using spouse -
@pgofhsm The AP "generally" treated all same-sex couples as "partners" or "couples," regardless of marital status. "Spouse" didn't enter it. -
@chrisgeidner like, is there a reason that gender neutral terminology (by my preference, used for all marriages) is seen as lesser? -
@pgofhsm AP specified husband or wife could only be used at times for same-sex spouses, whereas they always are used for opp-sex spouses. -
@chrisgeidner makes sense as pure reaction. But re long term policy,@AP actually does refer to opp sex as spouse, eg http://news.stlpublicradio.org/post/feds-paid-40m-firms-tied-mccaskills-spouse …

@chrisgeidner I don't think equal must be same when it comes to terminology. I had to fill out my marriage license as "wife," you wouldn'tThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
