In "it's a small [and awful] world" news, Judge Smith, who joins Duncan's majority opinion today, was on the panel that heard the marriage cases back in 2014, where Duncan argued to uphold Louisiana's ban. Smith was the one judge who seemed to side with Duncan at arguments.
