Correction, via @ssamcham: The ND SCOTUS application (see the thread that this is a reply to) only needed to be a 4-4, not majority, vote for the voter ID requirement to be enforced for this election b/c a tie vote would mean the 8th Cir decision, staying the injunction, stands.
#NorthDakotans must present either a driver’s license, a state-issued photo ID, a tribal ID, or they must sign a Voter’s Affidavit. If ID is expired or does not display their address, they will be required to present proof of address, ie utility bill, bank statement, or paycheck.
@EricHolder We need people on the ground to help #NorthDakotans #VOTE2018
So, essentially, the requirement to secure the correct documentation becomes kind of a pro forma poll tax...
duh... should be "de facto", not "pro forma"... smh
Imagine how lucrative fake voting would have to be to lure anybody to North Dakota
My first response to this news was " I f***ing hate this godforsaken state"
Then I see your tweet and my first response is "f*** you for insulting my state like that"

Why does the United States, as a supposed democracy, spend the majority of its time and effort trying to prevent people from voting?
Republicans are cheaters!
In fucking North Dakota? What’s the population there little over 200k? Why is even a state, just combine The Dakotas into one state! Definitely don’t need 2 senators each!
The state is around ~700K
So they just disenfranchised every Native American in the state who lives on a reservation?
Such a bullshit argument. What quack judge saw a less than 1% chance of voter fraud and though "we must disenfranchise people to prevent this!" You have a greater chance of a fatal reaction to prescription medication than there is of voter fraud
Limited access to voting limits voting !!!
can someone please explain this in simple terms, aka not with "vacating the stay" etc
Wonder how many cases of actual fraud in ND there was? Maybe 3 at the most. Not enough to change the outcome of any race.
