Off to #SCOTUS, where Justice Brett Kavanaugh has joined the court and will be hearing arguments in two criminal sentencing cases today.

A bit interestingly, there was a continued sense of the compromising spirit that animated last week’s arguments. (See: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/chrisgeidner/supreme-court-eight-justices-compromise-kavanaugh …) Of course, this is a statutory interpretation, and not a constitutional, case, and not even a high-profile one of those. So: Stay tuned.

I happened to be there (did research for one of the cases this summer, before AK retired) — Kavanaugh definitely seemed not quite up to speed. Taylor gives notice to someone who breaks in three RVs? Really?

I didn't stay for the second case, so I missed that!

Ooof that was an uncomfortable room to be in if you’re weren’t on the MAGA/Kavanaugh train, IMO. But looking forward to reading your coverage of this term!

Looking forward to seeing those transcripts. Hopefully they will have some interesting tidbits not readily apparent when listening to the args

Do you think his lack of being a long-term judge is showing?
