This was present in Crapo's comments on Friday as well.

It’s worse than that. I would argue Ford has at least achieved preponderance of the evidence at this point (some corroboration of her claims, lots of evidence that Kav isn’t truthful/credible). Rs seem to be demanding a criminal standard—reasonable doubt.

No reasonable employer would hire him with all those red flags and that performance at the interview. It boggles the mind that the Supreme Court apparently has lower standards.

1.The way this was handled made this MORE than a promotion. His current job is now at risk. 2. You don't destroy a person's career and reputation on a job interview. 3. You don't reward people who make uncorroborated and evidence-less accusations.
-
His current job is NOT at risk.
Do you have any idea what it takes to "fire" a sitting federal judge? First he has to be successfully IMPEACHED, then to actually remove him requires a 2/3's vote of the GOP-controlled Senate. Only happened 8x in our nation's entire history! -
Of course it's at risk. The very reasons cited for blocking him are enough to remove him. Why would a "credibly-accused" sex assaulted and leader of a gang rape club be permitted in any federal bench? If he's unqualified for SCOTUS, he's unqualified for his current post.
-
So you're saying if there's enough PROOF he actually committed these crimes to convince 2/3's of a GOP-controlled Senate to vote "guilty" (a nearly impossible feat, only happened 8x), we should instead put him on SCOTUS? That makes no sense.

-
No. I'm saying YOUR standard that he should not be seated is enough to remove him from his current post. This isn't difficult to comprehend.
-
His behavior makes it clear he doesn't belong in any position of public trust. I didn't think that before his testimony Thursday. If you yell and lie in a job interview badly enough, they might have a talk with your old employer about your behavior.
-
Before Thursday, I was merely against elevating him.
-
Hahahaha! Glad you've found another reason to oppose the guy you already opposed.

I know if I heard convincing arguments someone was either a great babysitter or a child kidnapper, with no further evidence due process requires I leave my children with them.

I can appreciate Flake asking for the FBI investigation. But, to me, this is another one of his public displays meant to have people view him in a favorable light, but his actions don't line up & he actually votes against public interest. I read maybe he's making run for POTUS?
-
Your initial conclusion depends on whether he was COMPLICIT, or simply IGNORANT, of the plot to stymie the FBI investigation. I think the American public deserves to know the answer to that question either way.
-
I agree, but whether he has any influence on the scope of the investigation, he still has complete control over his vote. IMO, Kavanaugh is unfit d/t the perjury & the bias in his opening statement. Was there ever an explanation for the $200k debt & pay off?
-
Agree wholeheartedly on unfit part, haven't had time to look into $ part yet (too many psbl criminals in this Admin to keep track of!) But reason f/distinction w/Jeff is that how best to apply pressure w/swing votes depends on if HE was tricked, or if he tricked the others.

-
True. But how do you find out? I've just become very mistrustful of Collins & Flake. They play the "Well, maybe, I'm not sure" game in public, but vote straight GOP.
-
If Flake was really fooled, he would be PISSED, & could be encouraged to speak-out "This isn't the deal we agreed to". If waffles, assume guilty, & concentrate on Collins & Murkowski. They were not rock-solid f/K BEFORE all this. Combined w/
#MeToo
& rape, may be persuaded.
-
There were also some other GOP Senators that backed-off support, after Kavanaugh's bizarre performance at hearing. Need to track them down. But main thing is to get WH interference w/FBI investigation stopped - this is banana republic dictator chit.
