“AIDS is God’s Punishment” on a bunny sign meme but it’s Politico and it’s an article and, OH MY GOD, it’s 2018.

NOTE FOR THE POLITICO OF THE FUTURE: For me, write: “Looking for a decadent homosexual lifestyle, he often ended up eating ice cream instead.”

Note: As people have mentioned, they removed the language and eventually added an editor’s note. But the language of the editor’s note is SO PASSIVE AND DISTANCING: “was deemed insensitive.”pic.twitter.com/J8qH79Jh74

When I first read that passage after seeing your tweet, I assumed it was literally a reprint of a 1988 article. When I realized it wasn't, that instead it was something Politico actually published yesterday in earnestness, a shock set in that has not yet subsided.

Look at my thread. It has drawn me into a spiral. Their editor’s note is ridiculous as well.

If you didn’t see it, the author said he regretted the word choice and should have gone with “promiscuous” instead of “decadent,” as though that would have fixed everything.

They changed it pretty quickly and then... hours later added an editors note. The writer said on Twitter he should've just said "promiscuous" and that would've cleared everything up.

Pretty sure the modern decadent homosexual lifestyle includes getting a local CSA and sometimes forgetting to pick it up on Saturday morning. How indulgent!
