Per pool: "Trump offered his 'warmest best wishes and sympathies' to the family of Aretha Franklin. He described her as a person he knew well and who worked for him. Trump also said her 'legacy will thrive and inspire' many generations." He also tweeted:https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1030116078125568006 …
(Not quite clear what the "worked for him" means, but I was looking for times when they interacted, and all I can figure is that she was paid to sing at an event.)
I have a picture of myself with Trump as well so where is my paycheck then? I have proof
A celeb going a hotel opening isn't "working for" that hotel. Lots of NY club owners said Trump was always trying 2 get in photos with any celebrity he saw.
That doesn't mean she worked for him dipstick! So when she sang for presidents did she work for them? Once again he tries to make everything about him!
Good Lord! If he cut her a check to perform at his venue, she “worked” for him. Doesn’t mean she was his employee. If I hire a painter or an attorney and pay him, I’m not his boss, but he IS “working” for me. And he didn’t emphasize it, you did! Ugh!! #muchadoaboutnothing
If she sang for an inauguration, it’s safe to assume she was paid by the inaugural committee, so I don’t believe that would qualify. If he paid her to sing at his wife’s bday party, however, It would. I can’t believe I’m seriously having to explain the difference.
He’s such a twit. Tact and grace (through action, deed, or word-spoken or via Twitter) are not his strong suit. He had ONE job AND STILL somehow had to make it about himself.
Aretha did her own pr and made her own choices, she msy have performed at an event but she was a proud woman and Im dammed if anyone has the gall to say she worked for them!
That’s not a respectful way to refer to anyone - even if they were a housemaid!! Shows what he really thought of her - she was ‘the help’ - appalling.
She never "worked for" anyone but herself. She PERFORMED for audiences and did it amazingly.
What a handsome guy.
Thank you!
Sickening and sad to think Aretha actually stood next to him.
Jesus we know
Donald Trump uses problematic language but obviously he meant that he booked her as talent on at least one occasion. Receipts aren’t necessary. Famous people hire famous people. Moving on. Leave it to Donald Trump to upstage Aretha Franklin when she’s dead.
In his pre orange days.
