Of course, Rick Gates is on the list, as is Tad Devine (see: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/rubycramer/bernie-sanders-adviser-is-assisting-special-counsel …). So are, obviously, the five people who are getting use immunity:https://twitter.com/chrisgeidner/status/1021474647429328896 …

Woah. I’ve only served on two juries - one civil one criminal. Criminy that’s a lot of witnesses. Question? Is it that Manafort wishes to remain defiant and not cut a deal - or - is Mueller planning to make an example so others fall in line. Or perhaps something else??
-
Some witnesses may be necessary to authenticate a document - i.e., that is the real document. Others, like Gates, will be substantive witnesses who will explain Manafort’s criminal activity. Final nails in his coffin will be the witnesses granted use immunity - essentially
-
Participants in the criminal conspiracy who were not indicted. Each will admit his/her culpability and explain Manafort criminal acts. He is so fucked. In most cases, the Government makes a plea offer at some time - defendant can take it or try to negotiate a better deal. Here,
-
I am guessing that Manafort did not want the plea bargain that most likely included cooperation. Team Mueller is putting its lawyer clothes on and will try the case. If convicted, Manafort will remain in jail pending the DC case and subsequent appeals. Some day he may realize
-
That dying in jail sucks. Unless he expects a pardon from Trump. How that helps Trump is a mystery. After a pardon, Manafort has no 5th Amendment privilege because he cannot be put in jeopardy (because of the pardon). He is then a witness subject to subpoena power of a court.
-
And some charges presumable state crimes? In the next case?
-
My guess is that Manafort thinks he will live longer in prison than he would on the outside after cutting a deal. Putin's reputation for finding people and serving them polonium tea is pretty extensive.
