The NYT should have standards for addressing 2018 issues if they’re going to cover them. To fail to do so is to fail to do their jobs. They failed in publishing Ben Brantley’s piece tonight as it was written. The whole thing is embarrassing — to him, to the artists, to the NYT.

Yes, I just read through the whole thing — https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/26/theater/head-over-heels-broadway-review-go-gos.html … — and it’s all awful. The sneering nature of the entire piece is distasteful, but the way he writes about Peppermint and her nonbinary character is so demeaning and dismissive ...

Yikes. This is complete trash from the NYT. And I totally agree with Will: This is about an editorial policy that would allow this. https://twitter.com/Will_Kellogg/status/1022673260243288064 …

Team. Keep bringing out the screenshots. It's not ONE review and ONE instance of unconscious bias/impact < intentions. It's MULTIPLE reviews over MANY years: racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, & MORE. Below: May 15, 2017 for VENUS #BenBrantley @nytimesarts pic.twitter.com/Hf8iEnNorZ
