WaPo: Regarding possible #SCOTUS nominees, Trump "also wants to see a portfolio of solid academic writing, though this adviser acknowledged Trump does not care to read it; he simply wants to know it exists."https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/we-have-to-pick-a-great-one-inside-trumps-plan-for-a-new-supreme-court-justice/2018/06/30/610dcd4e-7bb0-11e8-80be-6d32e182a3bc_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.cee80f04a375 …

Outside of the "looks the part" and "does Trump actually know legal stuff" issues, there's no doubt that the White House and Trump have handled their judicial nominations process with precision and skill. Look at this discipline —>pic.twitter.com/QUX4RRrqgy

have you ever met Trump? Spoken to him about any of this? Seems your entire knowledge of Trump is based on articles written by liberal journalists who hate the man….
-
My "entire knowledge of Trump" is based on everything we know about him. I am a journalist; this is what I do. I have seen him speak about the court; beyond rote recitations of conservative orthodoxy on the courts, he doesn't appear to have any real reflections of it or its work.
-
Yet when people who have spoken to Trump about this are quoted in an article, you dismiss them and “LOL” based on what you now admit is a public record in which Trump has spoken sparsely and given “rote recitations of conservative orthodoxy on the courts”
-
What was so funny about the prank call the other day is that it confirmed that the vapid moron is just as empty and meandering in private as he is in public.

As in his carefully considered view that a president doesn't have to abide by the law and can't be held accountable?
-
Basically treats the constitution as something to circumvent , not uphold

Context - they were discussing Three-Fifths Compromise.

Is this the same Trump that claimed the Constitution was antiquated because it limited his powers when he first became President ?

Is he still not requesting/allowing ABA to vet his list of nominees?
-
Doubt it. Certainly didn’t consider their opinion of the people he nominated for judicial posts

Hopefully, he was sharing Tiffany’s views. I suspect she has some and they’re fairly well-informed.

In private, I too have all the best constitutional interpretations. Just... it's a private matter, okay? Back off.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. No, really. There is just no way. I'd believe he said he wanted someone from Harvard or Yale (b/c he's apparently unaware EVERYONE on Ct is from Harvard / Yale (tho RBG grad from Columbia)....but he didn't articulate nuanced views on const'l interp.
-
In fact, I can't think of ANY time when he appeared to have read a bill (he can't even keep track of which bills he said he wanted passed, across three days!) or mentioned any const'l clause.....but he knows that Gorsuch is "their" justice.
