like when someone introduces me on their show as "a member of the LGBT community", hey that's great! if they call me "an LGBT" i know i have made a very poor choice of bookings...

The one grammatical difficulty I’ve had with this is with “firsts” — the first out LGBT member of a legislature or first LGBT person to do X. Of course, with more words you can get around it, but that is one time I’m more or less OK with it.
