Readler was a partner at Jones Day in Columbus who helped with election litigation for the Trump campaign, moved to DC in Jan 2017 for a senior job in DOJ's Civil Division, and has ended up as the acting head of the division since then through now — almost 17 months in.

Murphy, meanwhile, has had a busy past year at

I had the pleasure of hearing Chad Readler speak at an Ashbrook Center luncheon last fall. He seemed to pocess a knowledgeable mind and articulate tongue, both of which are excellent qualities for a federal judicial servant.
