The first commercial flight happened 11 years later, and the first transatlantic flight 22 years later. We landed on the moon only 66 years later - all in one lifetime.https://twitter.com/JonErlichman/status/1109441098538192897 …

Apollo missions used rockets not airplanes. Rockets were invented ~1100 AD in China. ~3000 years before. But I get your point.

Live long enough to see us land on the moon. The first was a hoax.

I get some people not understanding rocket science, photography, and geopolitics in the 60s well enough to realize that a fake was impossible to pull off, but to come online, show your face and openly advertise your idiocy to the world: that takes total intellectual uselessness.

And the length of the first flight attempt (Wright brothers) was shorter than Boeing 737 wingspan.

I bet the flight lasted longer than a couple of the newest 737 flights though...😬

Incredible. And it’s now been 47 years since the last manned moon landing and 50 years since the first. Forget supersonic, starting to wonder if we can still build regular high quality aircrafts... What went wrong?

Humankind hasn’t even left lower earth orbit for nearly half a century. What an extraordinary, unbelievable era Apollo was.
