The paperback edition of my book on psychology's journey toward rigorous is out now! So much has changed since the hardback (2017) that I had to write a new preface As always, a big thanks to the friends & colleagues who are leading reform

"You just have to Google smartphone addiction and you’d be convinced that it is a thing, even though it is not a psychiatrically recognised disorder. To talk about smartphones affecting the brain is a really slippery slope"

On the one hand, we must start the healing as a nation. On the other, a writer is meant to have the courage to tell the truth. And so here is my sketch from last night’s static knuckle-dragging carnival of the irredeemably stupid in Parliament Square.

Ever wondered how work? We strongly encourage and waive APCs for PhD students!

Happy ending though -- the authors responded with admirable patience to this nonsense & the manuscript was accepted

Imagine being the famous professor at a prestigious institution who feels comfortable writing this👇 in a manuscript review of an ECR's preregistered (non-RR) study This is one of the reasons I believe professors should have to sign their reviews

Laughing ruefully at a Stage 1 acceptance letter, just sent to the authors for a RR that I edited, in which the template email sent by journal admin calls me "Dr Registered Reports" I guess that's me now. I am a nameless and terrible god who edits all your RRs

Since this was posted, is anyone aware of any published or Stage 1 accepted RRRs (papers/preprints) at JPSP? Also looking to hear experience from anyone that has tried approaching editor there about RRRs. Please share. Thank you!

Congrats to all - and another milestone for as it will be the 1st example of a RR ‘systematic map’, a precursor to systematic reviews and meta-analysis It also shows that can be applied beyond the narrow confines of hypothesis testing

Ever wondered how to list an accepted Stage 1 Registered Report in your CV? Here’s how👇

Working into the late hours on a review article about Registered Reports and reverting to star trek language. This is respectable right.

And it turned out to be an ominous premonition because this unit proceeded to jump on the kitchen bench while my back was turned and drag the rest of the chicken on to the floor. I'm sure is proud.

During my postdoc in Oz, there was a prof who was genuinely convinced I was stealing his lunches from the fridge. He even barged into my office once hoping to catch me in the act. Why? My office was opposite the kitchen, so I was guilty. And this guy was allegedly a scientist.

I admit I find letters like this somewhat mystifying, especially when multiple authors have signed off on them. Despite the provocative title, there's not much in here to substantiate the claim of "hacking". It also confuses preregistration with RRs. But so be it!

Hello epidemiologists: Why not try introducing Registered Reports at one of your many journals and find out? Because if are vulnerable to "hacking", just imagine how much of your regular research is

An unfortunate editorial from which illustrates that if you don't really understand a problem, you're unlikely to come up with concrete, workable solutions PS. Still waiting on you to walk the walk and offer
