Speaking to some 's who are worried because they know someone who "got a job already" or someone "learned JavaScript faster than them". Everyone's journey is different, don't compare yourself to others. Worry about your own game!

Happy Friday! Learning how to use styled-components in React, and finishing my next article on React hooks (it's turned into a biggy!) what are you up to?

I see a lot of beginners learning React jumping into Redux too early. React's state is more than enough for your early projects, and adding redux will confuse things. Master state using React first, learn Redux later

I put a React component in its own file when: ✅It's reusable by itself ✅It's big, so it's helpful to be in its own file. Less scrolling. Easier to understand in isolation. I put multiple components in a file when: ✅Not reused ✅Small ✅Parent-child relationship

If you're starting your first developer job, don't feel like you have code after work to "keep up" or whatever. You won't "fall behind", you'll just burn out. Work hard, but enjoy it. You'll progress at your own pace

You gotta love coding. Something could break and it could take 3 minutes to fix, or it could take 3 days. You never know! 😂

Writing is a good way to learn. I'm writing an article about React hooks and finding myself having to research certain concepts to really explain things clearly. This is why it's good to have a blog! 😁

When you're learning to code and working on your own projects, remember to "keep it simple". The "boring, simple" code is often the easiest to maintain, test and understand

Coding is more about the journey than the destination. There isn't an epiphany moment where you suddenly "know how to code", it sort of just happens over time, after a lot of practicing, failing, and learning. Enjoy this journey!

Array methods you should know: [].map() [].filter() [].reduce() – sometimes used to calculate shopping cart total [].some() – returns if at least one item matches condition [].flat() [].flatMap() [].every() [].sort() – used this one to create tables sorted by column
