I fired the sawmill back up to cut my last and largest log. This one had some neat spalting. Half the work was simply getting the log into place. Here's an hour of work condensed to 1 min to lift the log 2ft over and half a foot up:pic.twitter.com/DlbQKjCnJg

No idea! :D One of the logs will become our mantle, but the rest ask me in a couple years once everything has dried. Tables, furniture, or whatever else I’d like to use red oak for in the coming decades

Do you do anything special to dry it? I’ve always wanted to try milling my own lumber.

Stack the boards with 3/4” stickers for airflow & support in my carport. Then ratchet straps across the whole bundle to prevent twisting. I seal the ends with latex paint. Ask me in a year or two how successful I am, but this is conventional wisdom so should be good I hope
