I wonder how much more articulate I could become. Is that even a generalizable thing or does articulation depend largely on properly understanding what I would like to say?

i’ve reached a level of spoken (not written) articulateness where i can quickly verbalize, in detail, almost all my thoughts of nearly any complexity after i reached that point, i found the best way to level up my verbal skills was to learn how to judiciously shut the hell up

I have problems with going straight to my talking points. I would pack all the "relevant" information into my sentences, thus it becomes extremely verbose. My problem is with lossy and not lossless compression

mm yeah i do this a lot in professional contexts—i often find that the stuff i rambled about was actually not important at the moment, and i would have fared better if i’d spent more time in discovery mode (asking q’s, gathering context, trying to identify the best “entry point”)

semi relevant anecdata: i have a couple of friends who talk in really buttoned-up and well structured paragraphs (with familiar topics i can do this too). it’s very impressive intellectually, but that’s kind of a downside bc it can sometimes be interpreted as an unnecessary flex

I'm impressed by people who can grasp the info and associated context immediately, and stay on top of the ongoing conversations. The context-switch sometimes throws me off. Also the ability to ignore your top-most concern to continue from where someone else left off.
