My initial motives are dead. Twitter is not an Internet of Beefs. Fake news. I've blocked
@vgr. Nor is Twitter an Internet of Ideas. There are ideas, but what people do here is not discuss or beef: they affiliate or not. Twitter is an Internet of Affiliations.1 reply 1 retweet 22 likesShow this thread -
The fundamental action on Twitter is affiliation. The network is affiliative. The posts are affiliative. The reward offline is affiliative. The information content is content for and about affiliation: above all, mood and meme contagion-belonging and shibboleth sentryism.

What idea is developed on Twitter? But everything is signaled on Twitter. Performative models, personae, not doxastic models, get shaped here. This fills a definite, functional, modular social niche. Not one I initially thought, but it works and it's not one I'll ignore.

twitter is a difficult format to develop an opus, but it’s an excellent way to develop your identities (which are intrinsically performative/affiliative, and that’s not a bad thing)https://twitter.com/choosy_mom/status/1218978348069638146 …
