beyond simple attention hacks, i haven’t really investigated my own productivity limits and patterns i have only a vague understanding of the conditions (time of day, length of work sessions, focusing techniques, pre-work rituals, etc.) in which i produce my best work

I also see a difference in what it looks like to have your deep chunks all at once, vs scattered throughout the day. my guess is that it wouldn't be hard for a lot of people to get 4 total, but because of the 'shape' of their days, it's very hard to keep coming back to a thing

That aside, I personally have experienced being able to train up my sustained 4-in-a-row focus ability. I remember when I started I was like "how the fuck am I supposed to do calculus for 2 hours?" but was able to stably get things to 3h focused

it's worth trying a Sebastian Marshall style 12hr work day just to find some actual limits. I def don't recommend chronic usage
