when my friends tell me they’re “thinking about grad school”, they usually say they’re unsatisfied with work but a lot of the time, i think they’re also kinda lonely

i rag on school a lot, but i will admit that it is excellent for developing meaningful communities because it forces you to share so much context with other peoplehttps://twitter.com/choosy_mom/status/1216849920700796928 …

my grad school friends often tell me they’ve gotten close with people that they might not connect with otherwise this is a really good thing, but also many school friendships are borne of necessity/proximity, and they fade away after graduation

college is unique because of the built-in social density, but most of the time you’re limited to the people in your campus or town post-grad life offers an opportunity to connect with the people you *would* befriend otherwise it’s a little daunting, but imo it’s very possiblehttps://twitter.com/choosy_mom/status/1226036631171289093 …

chad donkey from shrek 2 @choosy_momOn an evolutionary scale, many of our tools and social schema are brand new, and there’s no blueprint for a tech-enabled utopian tribal community But if you believe this kind of social transhumanism is possible, then it’s hard not to be excited about experimenting with it pic.twitter.com/PE101cir6rShow this thread1 reply 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread
tired: your post-graduate years are the most socially atomized time of your life wired: your post-graduate years can be the most socially stimulating time of your life, including college, if you’re willing to make it happen
