my grad school friends often tell me they’ve gotten close with people that they might not connect with otherwise this is a really good thing, but also many school friendships are borne of necessity/proximity, and they fade away after graduation

I got a dual-masters degree and learned more from my jobs than school. But as a women of color being the first in my fam to go to college, grad school was essential for building my social capital & giving me a network of power players

there are a lot of good reasons to go to grad school, esp if you don’t already have a lot of access to opportunity + have a clear game plan wrt coursework, career path, and networking
