Hey Twitter, curious to hear reflections or personal insights around establishing personal boundaries. I'm realising that mine have been relatively permeable—for most of my life—so experimenting with putting some in place (especially around protecting time for self)

An exercise I give my clients, to use when they have a boundary decision. Say out loud: How do I feel (about this), and what do I need? Its seems simple if you have it, but it can be very challenging. Can't transcend and include what you don't have.

oof, "need" is a word i've always felt uncomfortable using to describe myself

likewise—need/neediness is uncomfortable to verbalize about myself. i often soften it by phrasing it “what do i need to feel better?”
