When I use a nifty turn of phrase, it usually isn’t totally off the cuff—most of my metaphors are informally workshopped over time This makes me a little self-conscious when I know a friend has heard me tell a story/describe an idea before
While I think it’s delightful to witness others developing stories, I worry that people get annoyed when they hear my stories for the second or third time

I think I have a desire to be (or be seen as) someone who always speaks cleverly and never falls back on ‘old material’ I guess I want my communication to be closer to improv and farther from standup—I’m sure many comedians have written on this topic

Frequently "do I get annoyed at repeat story in my company" is decided by "am I annoyed with you?" but outside annoyance, I often have a weird feeling about it not sure where it comes from or how universal

what do you mean by outside annoyance?
